Jun 22, 2011 (newstodate): Kyrgyzstan is to develop the regional airport at Issyk-kul.
In the project is the construction of new passenger terminal and other pertinent infrastructure, and plans are to complete the works in 2012 - if funding is assured.
Issyk-Kul International Airport was last renovated in 2005 and has one 1,800m runway that will be extended to allow for operations with aircraft up to the size og Boeing 737 and Airbus A320.
Also new airfield and runway lighting systems will be implemented.
