Jun 08, 2011 (newstodate): Starting from June 15, 2011, Finnair Cargo will launch MD11F all-cargo flights to Shanghai in co-operation with the capacity provider World Airways Inc.
With its partner, Finnair Cargo will offer two weekly rotations on the route New York JFK-Helsinki-Shanghai-Helsinki-New York JFK.
-We are already operating once weekly MD-11F flights between Helsinki and New York in cooperation with World Airways, and what we are to do now is actually buying capacity on World Airways' MD-11F on the route to Shanghai as well utilizing World Airways' traffic rights, says Antero Lahtinen, Finnair Cargo managing director.
-Finnair Cargo is currently offering belly cargo capacity on the daily Airbus A340 passenger route to Shanghai, and this has found a firm foothold in the market segment with shipments matching the belly hold dimensions. From June 15, 2011, we will be able to offer also main-deck capacity which is a significant addition to our market capabilities, says Mr Lahtinen.
Finnair Cargo is already providing freighter flights from Helsinki to Hong Kong, Seoul and Frankfurt as well as to New York.
