Jun 15, 2011 (newstodate): Estonian Air expects to be able to present its new strategy after some three months of analysis and market monitoring.
-Little can therefore be said at this stage, but we have estimated that the carrier will eventually need a fleet of around 15 aircraft to provide frequent and efficient services to a network of destinations of importance to our markets, says Tero Taskila, new Estonian Air CEO since June 1, 2011.
-We have, however, not said anything on the composition of this fleet, nor on the size or types of aircraft. This can only be ascertained when the strategy has been frozen
-I am, however, confident that Estonian Air does have strong potentials for growth and development and will be able to enter into cooperation with other carriers to fine-tune air traffic offerings. I am also encouraged to see that almost all existing airline alliances seem to be positive to Estonian Air, indicating trust and appreciation towards our company.
In its latest annual report, Estonian Air proved to be in a positive development with increasing sales revenues in 2010 as well as ending up with the lowest loss in recent years despite many unforeseen events including the Iceland ash cloud and the bankruptcy of Top Tours, a major charter customer with the carrier.
