Jun 09, 2011 (newstodate): The Danish carrier and capacity provider DAT has been a steady operator at Finland's Helsinki Vantaa Airport since March 2011.
The carrier has based its MD-87 aircraft at the airport under a contract with the Finnish airline Blue1, serving as a fast-response back-up to the introduction by Blue1 of its new fleet of Boeing 717 aircraft on its route network.
Blue1 took delivery of its first Boeing 717 aircraft in August 2010 and is building the fleet to nine aircraft, with five more to be added successively.
The contract with DAT expires from June 21 as Blue1 enters the summer season with less stress on operations enabling the carrier to free own capacity to support the transition from former Avro RJ85 operations.
