Jun 17, 2011 (newstodate): Cargo security at Copenhagen Airport: the issue is back to square-one after the handling company Spirit's decision to move back to Terminal North, close to the inner security area around the passenger aircraft stands.
Meeting on February 21, 2011, all parties involved in cargo traffic at Copenhagen Airport, the airport's security department and three representatives from Danish Transport Authority's department of aviation security reached agreement on implementation of TV monitoring as the solution to the airport's long out-standing issue of cargo security.
The issue that emerged almost two years ago has its focus on the transport of cargo from the cargo terminals at the airport's eastern premises to the passenger aircraft, crossing the borderline between the "soft" and the "hard" security zones.
What remained unsolved, though, was the issue of how the significant investment should be shared among the parties.
Especially SAS Cargo held its answer on hold as it was, instead, preparing to move away from the eastern location.
This would leave primarily WFS alone to foot the bill.
-We must admit that we are taken aback by this latest development. The issue is back to square-one and we will have to meet again very soon to discuss how to proceed from here, says Jonnie Muller, Copenhagen Airport Head of Security.
