May 27, 2011 (newstodate): The Danish carrier Cimber Sterling is biding for time to survive amidst a deep financial crisis and may now be negotiating with new potential owners.
According to a stream of diffuse rumors in the industry and press, one such potential party may be the Cyprus-based asset management company Manswell Enterprises Limited., owned by the Ukrainean strongman Kolomoysky, one the leaders of the so-called Dnipropetrovsk Group and one of the richest man in Ukraine.
If true, Cimber Sterling might find its future within an airline group that already comprises the Swedish carrier Skyways.
In December 2010, Avia Express AB was acquired by Manswell Enterprises Limited, securing financing for the continued commercial operation of Avia Express under the brand Skyways.
In the fleet of Cimber Sterling are 26 aircraft including three ATR 42-500, six ATR 72-200, seven Boeing 737-700, and 11 Bombardier CRJ-200.
