May 10, 2011 (newstodate): Estonian Air's new CEO, to be announced on June 1, 2011, as he takes office, will not be an Estonian citizen.
-Members of our Board have confirmed that the new CEO is a foreigner, and that he has extensive experience from the international aviation business, says Ilona Eskelinen, Estonian Air PR Director.
-Beyond that we cannot provide any further information until the official presentation at a media conference on the day.
After completion in September 2010 of the sales procedures where SAS finally sold its 49 percent stake in the carrier to the Estonian state, a new board headed by Joakim Helenius was formed, and work started on formulating a new and offensive strategy for Estonian Air's future development.
The new strategy will thus now be firmed up and implemented with a new CEO at the helmet, replacing the current holder of the office, Andrus Eljas, after June 1, 2011.
