May 02, 2011 (newstodate): Boosted by its new capital basis, the Swedish carrier Skyways has acquired another Swedish carrier, City Airline.
The two carrier will be merged and operate under the Skyways brand, with little redundancy on their existing route networks.
In December 2010, Skyways was acquired by the Cyprus-based investment company Manswell Enterprises, and this has facilitated the latest take-over in the Swedish regional aviation industry.
Skyways has a fleet comprising 12 Fokker 50 aircraft, while City Airline operates a fleet of three MD-87, two Embraer ERJ 135 and seven Embraer ERJ 145 aircraft.
