May 19, 2011 (newstodate): After a hectic build-up of the route network over the last few years, the Latvian carrier airBaltic is changing its priorities for the coming years.
-In the next, say, two years, we will not see the opening of tens of new routes as has lately been the case, says Bertolt Flick, airBaltic President & CEO.
-Instead, our emphasis will be on increasing the frequency on existing routes to capitalize on the importance of our transfer traffic with Riga Airport as our hub.
-Today, transfer traffic constitutes some 60 percent of our total traffic, increasing from some 12 percent in 2008 and 50 percent in 2009, says Mr Flick.
