May 02, 2011 (newstodate): Celebrating its 10th year of operations, the Icelandic cargo carrier Bluebird Cargo took in another Boeing 737 freighter in March 2011.
The aircraft, a B737-300 freighter, was delivered on a lease agreement with GECAS.
This brought the carrier's fleet to a total of seven freighter aircraft, including six Boeing 737-300F and one Boeing 737-400F aircraft.
In 2005, Bluebird Cargo was acquired by Icelandair, but eventually Icelandair decided to focus on its own cargo company, Icelandair Cargo, putting Bluebird Cargo up for sale.
Bluebird Cargo is now in the hands of two Icelandic banks that are also behind the Icelandair Group, pending the arrival of a suitable new owner.
