May 04, 2011 (newstodate): Kazakhstan's Air Astana has taken delivery of its first Embraer 190 aircraft.
The aircraft was delivered on May 2, and the second will follow before the end of this month.
The final, and third Embraer 190 delivery will take place early in 2012, all three on an operational lease agreement with the manufacturer.
The first aircraft will be deployed to routes within Kazakhstan as well as routes from Almaty to Tashkent, Dushanbe, and Bishkek, while the delivery of the second aircraft will allow Air Astana also to open flights on new routes from Almaty to Tbilisi and Samara.
Air Astana now has 22 aircraft in its fleet, with orders for delivery of a further nine aircraft.
