May 18, 2011 (newstodate): Continental Airlines Cargo is seeing no decline in cargo volumes after the recent re-entry by SAS on the Transatlantic market from Oslo to New York.
-We have seen no decline in cargo volumes, and the booking situation remains very satisfactory, says May Korsell, Kales Air Services, Continental's cargo GSA in Norway.
-Our position in this market is bolstered by the fact that we can offer even same-day deliveries at a range of destintaions in USA thanks to the efficiency of our hub at Newark, and for other cargo we offer next-day deliveries arriving in the morning at most stations.
-With the daily Boeing 757-200 aircraft we can offer up to two tonnes of cargo while limited in dimensions. Still, this is a perfect match to shipments of ships spares, equipment for the oil drilling industry and also exports of Norwegian fresh salmon.
-Continental will stick to its daily flight during the summer, while plans for an extra second Transatlantic flight from Norway was abandoned. Even so, we are certainly satisfied with the situation, says Ms Korsell.
