May 19, 2011 (newstodate): Before the end of this month, work will start on on a new terminal at Prishtina International Airport in Kosovo.
The new terminal, due to be completed by the end of 2012, will have a 27,000m² of indoor space, a 77,000m² apron ramp and runway, a new traffic control tower, car park facilities with a capacity to accommodate 1,750 vehicles and fuel tanks.
For the next 20 years, the management of the airport is in the hands of the Turkish-French consortium, Limak-Airport de Lyon MAS after a tender process.
Pristina International Airport has a 2,500m runway and existing facilities also include a 2,500 sq.m. cargo terminal, operating since December, 2002, with a daily capacity at 100 tonnes.
