May 17, 2011 (newstodate): Romania's government is planning to sell part of the stake in the national carrier, Tarom.
Plans are to divest of initially 20 percent of the shares in the airline either as an outright sale on the stock exchange, or directly to a strategic investor, and a deal will be struck before the end of 2011.
Also the government has pledged to install a new private management team with Tarom already from this autumn.
The decisions on part-privatization of Tarom as well as of the Romanian cargo railway company CFR Marfa are contained in a LoI with IMF as a prerequisite for further financial aid to the country.
