May 19, 2011 (newstodate): Operating a daily Boeing 757-200 freighter at Billund Airport since April 6, 2010, DHL is most satisfied with the performance of the new service to/from Lepizig.
-After overcoming the effects from the Icelandic volcano eruption only the day after our start, we have seen volumes growing steadily, says Michael Hovgaard Poulsen, DHL Express.
-Our main target was the small and mid-size companies in the western parts of Denmark, and we have seen a strong hold emerging on exactly this market segment, while we have also managed to firm up contracts with some of the large companies here.
-At the beginning, imports were dominating, but we have seen export volumes building up, too, so today we have a balanced operations which is crucial for the operating economy of the route.
-Locating at Billund Airport was indeed a wise decision, and after our arrival here we have seen other competitors in this industry following the lead further testifying to the airport's efficiency as a cargo hub, says Mr Hovgaard Povlsen.
