May 27, 2011 (newstodate): After recent years' experiences with delays to major new aircraft projects, like the Airbus 380, Boeing 787 and the Sukhoi Superjet 100, the industry is now turning its attention to the delivery scheme of the Airbus A350, Airbus' competitor to Boeing's Dreamliner.
Airbus has long maintained "mid-2013" as the EIS of the A350 aircraft, with Qatar Airways slated to become the first operator, with orders for a total of 80 aircraft.
The time frame has now been slightly moderated to the "latter half of 2013".
Airbus is said to deliver first the medium-size version, the Airbus A350-900, 40 of which will go to the Qatar carrier.
