Apr 08, 2011 (newstodate): The situation in Japan, the Middle East and North Africa took its toll also on Finnair Cargo that saw growth in cargo demand slowing down in March 2011.
Total cargo volumes, 12,862 tonnes, were still up by 39 percent y-o-y, but Asian volumes grew only by 10.8 percent y-o-y to 6,981 tonnes in March.
The Asian cargo load factor was also down by 5.3 percentage-points to 83 percent.
Cargo on the European traffic was up 17.9 percent to 2,066 tonnes, and cargo on the North Atlantic sector increased by 5.6 percent, y-o-y, to 821 tonnes.
The freighter operations, launched in May 2010, generated a total of 2,685 tonnes
