Apr 08, 2011 (newstodate): Scandinavia is an important market for Thai Airways, and the carrier has plans for growth.
Speaking at the Routes Asia conference, Nongnuj Ratanavichi, Thai Airways Director Traffic Planning Dept, said that Thai plans to increase capacity on its routes to Scandinavia as part of its strategy to exploit existing markets first before adding new destinations.
No indication was made, however, of which Scandinavian routes might see increased capacity, or if the capacity increase would come from more flights or larger aircraft.
Thai Airways is serving Copenhagen and Stockholm with daily Boeing 747-400 flights, while services to Oslo were introduced only on June 15, 2009, with five weekly Airbus A330-500 flights.
Finland, in the Nordic region, still remains outside the carrier's network.
