Apr 19, 2011 (newstodate): New Swedish carrier Jet Sweden is now in the air after having obtained its AOC on Friday, April 15.
The carrier, based at Vasteraas, Sweden, is operating one Piper PA-31 Navajo aircraft offering services in the Swedish charter market.
The aircraft has the capacity to lift eight passengers, or carry up to 700 kilo of freight on cargo missions.
-It is a modest beginning, but it really should be considered as just that, says Per Johansson, Jet Sweden general manager and majority owner.
-Starting out with a small aircraft is a way of testing the market at a low capital base and with a correspondingly limited financial risk. In the slightly longer term, we aim at growing with the market with more and larger aircraft, which is facilitated by our very versatile AOC, says Mr Johansson.
In the cargo market, the Piper aircraft could serve as a back-up to integrators on thin routes, or as an offer to customers needing fast, small-volume deliveries.
