Apr 01, 2011 (newstodate): Afghanistans new cargo airline, East Horizon Airlines is soon to take delivery of new freighter aircraft.
Currently operating one wet-leased IL-76 aircraft, the privately-owned carrier is to take delivery of the first of four EADS CASA 212-100 Aviocar freighters.
The Aviocar freighter is a ramp-loading aircraft well suited to handling conditions at small local airports and landing strips in the country.
The trunk route of East Horizon Airlines is Kabul-Kandahar, but the carrier is building up traffic in Afghanistan to connect Kabul with most domestic airports as required by customers.
The new aircraft will operated under the airline's own AOC that is expected early in May, 2011, with scheduled cargo charter operations to start from Q2, 2011.
