Apr 14, 2011 (newstodate): Work is now starting on a new business plan for Sweden's Luleaa Kallax Airport that aims at becoming a hub for North Scandinavian seafood and other air cargo exports to the far East.
The business plans is to be finalized by early June 2011, but the basic elements are already present.
-We have accumulated much experience from earlier attempts to generate freighter traffic at Luleaa, including 28 freighter operations by Korean Air Cargo during 2009-2010. The airport infrastructure is in place, equipment is at hand, cargo handling staff is available and what is needed now is to include all interested parties in the project and let them have their impact on the final model, says Bjorn Ragnebrink, Swedavia Director Business Development Intercontinental Routes and Cargo.
-So, much of efforts will now directed towards compiling and editing existing knowledge and inputs from interested parties to form a business plan as the basis for future action.
In December, 2010, the state-owned company Swedavia took over the assets of Kallax Cargo, including the cargo handling equipment owned by Kallax Cargo, securing the continued availability of redundancy in equipment as required by airlines.
