Apr 14, 2011 (newstodate): Latvia's government, through the Coordination Council for Large and Strategically Important Investment Projects chaired by the PM, has now endorsed Stage 5 of Riga Airport's terminal development.
The endorsement supports the start of expansion of the passenger terminal, slated to be commissioned by 2012.
The development project comprises the construction of eight aircraft stands to enhance handling of Schengen and non-Schengen passengers.
The new pier will be designed to the capacity of handling of up to 2.5 mio passengers per year, raising the total capacity of the terminal to 6.5 mio passengers per year.
