Apr 14, 2011 (newstodate): Icelease, a subsidiary of the Icelandair Group, is still in the market for sale of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner positions.
The company initially placed a firm order for two Dreamliner aircraft, with options for five more aircraft, later changing two options into firm orders in April, 2006.
-The aircraft will not be used by Icelandair, and we are seeking their placement with other operators, says Kari Karason, Icelease general manager.
-So far, we have not succeeded in identifying customers for these aircraft. The market has been rather slow for a prolonged period, and the many delays to the Dreamliner program has understandably produced a hesitant attitude among carriers.
-Now it seems that the market is picking up again, and I am confident that we will solve the issue in due time. One aircraft has been leased to Air Niugini from its delivery in 2014, but the remaining three units are still on the shelf, says Mr Karason.
