Apr 07, 2011 (newstodate): Danish forwarder and logistics provider DSV is seeing good results from its latest new department - DSV Air Chartering - Cargo & Passenger.
The unit was established on August 1, 2010, with Ole Christiansen in the position as DSV General manager Air Chartering - Cargo & Passenger, part of DSV Air & Sea A/S, based at Horsens, Denmark.
-From January till now, we have performed a total of 38 Boeing 747 charter operations in the commercial market, besides a significant volume of operations based on contracts with military customers as well as relief organizations, says Ole Christiansen.
-What is the most significant about this is that the large volume of commercial operations are not generated through tenders or as a result of external marketing and sales efforts. Instead, these operations derive from utilizing internal contacts, inputs and market knowledge among the 21,000 staff at our offices around the world.
-This was exactly the philosophy underlying the setup of this department: to capitalize on existing market inputs that would otherwise have been left idle as they are are outside the scope of business at the individual offices, says Mr Christiansen.
