Apr 05, 2011 (newstodate): The new Danish project for a direct air link between Denmark and Florida from this summer, Comefly came off to a bad start.
Instead of the planned total of 40 flights to Miami Fort Myers from Aalborg Airport and Copenhagen Airport, the carrier is now scaling back to only five rotations from Aalborg Airport alone.
-We have been forced to cut back on the late flights, maintaining only the peak season flights where bookings are high enough to warrant the traffic, says Steen Normann Petersen, Comefly general manager.
-In addition to the general effects from the strained financial situation in the world reflecting on family consumption power, we have also been met by some skepticism concerning our ability to actually fulfill the pledge to the market. People still have in mind the sad occasions where lesser-known carriers have stalled, leaving passengers stranded.
-But we have gained valuable experience during this phase of the project and plans to come back with a fresh schedule for three-point flights during the next season, says Mr Normann Petersen.
