Apr 01, 2011 (newstodate): The tender for construction of the second passenger terminal at Croatia's Zagreb Airport has been extended.
Normally, tenders are extended due to low interest, but in Zagreb the opposite is the case.
Strong international interest in participation had led the authorities to move the deadline from April 4 to May 2, 2011.
At stake is not only the construction of the 65,600 sq m second terminal but also a contract to manage both terminals at Zagreb Airport, the country's biggest airport that generated slightly over 2 mio passengers in 2010 as well as 8,156 tonnes of cargo.
With the completion of the new projected terminal, the annual passenger figures may rise to five mio per year.
