Apr 26, 2011 (newstodate): Plans by the Government of Republika Srpska to start construction of a new airport at Trebinje have now been shelved.
The project was driven through a new company, Airport Trebinje that should manage the process, including a tender to call on foreign investors to take part in the project.
No such foreign investors have, however, showed interest in the project, and while the state earlier said it would go it alone if necessary, the project has now been finally scrapped.
Trebinje International Airport was planned to have a 2,600m runway, and the airport would have a capacity of handling 250,000 passengers in its first phase.
