Mar 29, 2011 (newstodate): Aircraft from the Ukrainean Air Force are currently engaged in a massive uplift of fuel for Station North in northwestern Greenland.
The aircraft will bring a total of 500,00 liters of fuel during the Northern Falcon 2011 campaign in which 29 Ukrainean staff and IL-76 aircraft are participating with the Danish AFB at Aalborg as point of departure.
AFB Aalborg is also the location for the Danish Ministry of Defence's Logistics Center Greenland.
The Ukrainean aircraft will require some 13 rotations to bring in the fuel resources to cover needs in the next year of operations.
900 km from the North Pole, Station North is an important base in Greenland, permanently manned by meteorologists and used by the Danish Army's patrols.
