The airport's 3,100 m runway needs redevelopment, and in the plans are also new apron areas as well as new airport office buildings.
The state-owned airport has been in negotiations with a range of international companies that are now reportedly considering establishing local offices in Tajikistan to cooperate with the airport in the coming projects.
