Mar 14, 2011 (newstodate): Russia's Ekaterinburg Koltsovo Airport is upbeat about prospects for further growth in 2011 after a strong development through 2010.
All figures in 2010 were promising: passenger volumes grew by 26.7 percent, y-o-y, to 2,748,919 passengers, especially strong in the international traffic where passenger volumes increased by 39.8 percent to 1,017,509.
Air cargo was also rising steeply in 2010, by 68.9 percent to 22,946 tonnes.
International cargo was up 150 percent to 10,219 tonnes, domestic cargo traffic increased by 34.8 percent to 12,303 tonnes, and cargo in CIS flights rose by 21 percent to 424 tonnes.
Among the airfreight newcomers to Ekaterinburg Koltsovo Airport in 2010 were AirBridgeCargo, since March 2010 operating a weekly AmsterdamEkaterinburgHong Kong service with Boeing-747F full-freighters, and MNG Cargo operating twice weekly with an A300 freighter on the route IstanbulEkaterinburgAlmaty.
