MAr 16, 2011 (newstodate): The BAWC freighter service from Oslo, Norway, to Hong Kong is showing good results and performs as planned.
The service was launched on February 18, 2011, with one weekly Boeing 747-400F flight driven by a contract with the logistics provider DB Schenker Northern Cargo, Norway's second-largest in the seafood industry.
The service has performed with high regularity and is operating with full loads including fresh salmon to Hong Kong and onwards to Chinese destinations such as Guangzhou, Shenzen, Xiamen and Fuzhou.
-We are soon to meet with BACW to negotiate the continued service, but we are very satisfied with the setup, says Arild Ostbraathen, Schenker Norway general manager.
-We are of course utilizing the capacity of other carriers as well, including Finnair, KLM and Thai International, and so far we are also seeing sustained traffic to Japan despite the on-going tragic disaster in this country.
-This can of course change abruptly depending on the development of the situation in the disaster scene, says Mr Ostbraathen
