Mar 11, 2011 (newstodate): The opening of Serbia's new commercial airport, Kraljevo-Ladevci Airport, also named Morava Airport, is now expected by the end of September 2011.
Originally slated for commissioning before the end of 2010, the airport has one 2,200m runway, to be extended to 2,750m, and a new ATC tower, while a passenger terminal that will become operational in 2011.
The existing military airfield will be split into a military base retaining the name Krajelvo-Ladevci, and the coming civilian airport, to be named Morava Airport.
Besides passenger traffic to serve the industries in the region, the airport is also expected to appeal to air cargo operators.
