Mar 09, 2011 (newstodate): Kazakhstan is to have a new international airport to serve its capital, Astana.
While little concrete information is yet available, the new airport will be built some 35 kilometers from the city centre.
The existing airport, Astana International Airport with one 3,500m runway will continue to serve as a domestic airport after the opening of the new airport, and plans are also to construct a new passenger terminal at the existing airport at Astana.
