Mar 28, 2011 (newstodate): Despite the current turmoil in Japan after the earthquake, the Tsunami and the on-going nuclear reactor accidents, Volga-Dnepr still secured the timely delivery of heavy shipments from Tokyo Narita Airport to Denmark's Billund Airport on March 22, 2011.
A Volga-Dnepr Boeing 747-400F freighter was contracted to transport 60 tonnes of 12-meter long pipes urgently needed to secure production on a North Sea oil rig where faulty machinery parts threatened to stop production within a couple of days, potentially generating losses for the oil company of US$20,000 per hour.
The operation was managed by Chapman Freeborn in London on behalf of its customer, the Danish logistics company DAMCO.
