Mar 15, 2011 (newstodate): On March 8, 2011, Emirates SkyCargo performed its first commercial flight into Moscow Domodedovo Airport.
Among other goods, the Boeing 777 freighter brought 450,000 roses weighing 64 tonnes into the airport, handled by Domodedovo Cargo Terminal.
Emirates holds the leading position in cargo transportation volume among foreign carriers operating flights to the airport.
Emirates started operating into Moscow from July 1, 2003, expanding from March 31, 2005, to daily services to Moscow Domodedovo Airport, using Airbus A330-200 aircraft or, during peak seasons, Boeing 777-200 or Boeing-777-300 aircraft, and from March 1, 2009 going up to two daily rotations on the route.
In addition, Emirates SkyCargo operates full-freighter services between the two markets, in 2006 signing an agreement with AirBridge Cargo providing mutual access to the networks of the two carriers.
