Mar 03, 2011 (newstodate): The Icelandic company Trans-Atlantic is seeing business returning after the years of crisis in Iceland's economy and aviation business.
-Business dropped down to zero in 2009, but started to return by the latter half of 2010. Thus we had four flights between Reykjavik and Riga in October 2010, says Omar Banine, Trans-Atlantic general manager.
-So far into 2011 we are planning for one flight to Zagreb in April and another in October, using either Croatia Airlines or Iceland Express, and in July we have at least one flight between Iceland and Tallinn, Estonia, and another flight either to Tallinn or to Riga, using the Latvian carrier SmartLynx Airlines.
-Also on the drawing board are flights between Iceland and Austria though this is still in the negotiations phase, says Mr Banine.
Most of the flights are operated partly for corporate customers booking parts of the aircraft while leaving Trans-Atlantic free to sell the excess capacity in the market.
