Mar 29, 2011 (newstodate): Air Canada Cargo has awarded a two-year contract to the Luxembourg-based Wallenborn Group to provide international road feeder services covering 40 airports in 14 countries in Europe and Scandinavia.
The contract covers Air Canada's major European gateways of Frankfurt and London Heathrow as well as markets including Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland.
Wallenborn will also provide off-line handling services for the airline in Germany.
Under the agreement, Wallenborn is providing a key account manager as a single point of contact for Air Canada to meet its commitment to provide trucks for dispatch at six hours notice and fast transfers.
Wallenborn will take responsibility for ensuring 24/7 responses to requests, including ad hoc sales inquiries, and solutions to local issues using its network of offices across Europe and Scandinavia, including new locations opened in Frankfurt, Munich and Stockholm in 2010 and 2011.
In 2009, Wallenborn acquired Haugsted AirCargo Services, a leading trucking and handling operator in Scandinavia with HQ at World Flight Services' terminal in Copenhagen Airport and offices also in Billund, Denmark, Oslo in Norway, and in Stockholm from March 2011.
