Feb 04, 2011 (newstodate): Little news have emerged of the plans of the US company Neff Capital Management LLC to launch a new freighter carrier including participation by Finnair Cargo.
Now at least is has been established that the Neff Capital Management LLC is planning for the projected carrier to be set up with Helsinki, Finland, as its base, according to Finnair Group's Financial Statement for 2010.
Neff Capital has acquired Finnair's two MD-11F freighters that are now operated by Finnair Cargo crews on a dry lease contract, and Finnair Cargo is expected to take a minority share in the new carrier.
Finnair Cargo today operates its MD-11F aircraft on routes to Asian and US destinations, and expectations are that the new carrier under formation will offer both US-Europe and Europe-Asia services with Helsinki as its hub.
In 2010, Finnair's cargo revenues account for just over 12 percent of the Airline Business segment's total revenues.
