Feb 16, 2011 (newstodate): The Slovak state has now decided to put Bratislava Milan Rastislav Stefanik Airport up for lease.
The government will seek a strategic partner to lease the airport for a period of 30 years in order to secure financing of the airport's continued development.
The state will thus retain its ownership of the airport after having earlier attempted a sale of the asset through tenders, with Austrian and other participants that eventually withdrew offers.
Sources say a final solution will be inked before the end of next year, and high on the list for investments is the need for a runway extension project.
