Feb 25, 2011 (newstodate): The Russian Tolmachevo Airport at Novosibirsk is heading for sustained growth in cargo traffic.
The airport's annual cargo volumes are now more than 20,000 tonnes, and the airport experienced a 14 percent growth in 2010.
Many airlines are also now using the airport for technical stops on routes between Asia and Europe.
Among carriers with scheduled cargo services to Tolmachevo Airport are Air China Cargo, Aeroflot and Polet operating Boeing 747, Il-96-400T and MD-11 cargo aircraft.
Other airlines use Tolmachevo Airport for technical stops on routes between Asia and Europe, with Air Cargo Germany as the latest newcomer from February 2, 2011.
To cope with the traffic rise, the airport plans to expand with new Boeing 747 freighter parking stands and new apron areas.
