Feb 11, 2011 (newstodate): In 2010, SAS sold its last remaining Bombarderier Dash-8 Q400 aircraft, grounded since the end of 2007.
By the start of 2010, the carrier still had six of the 27 aircraft in the hangar, where they had been stored after the carrier's unhappy experiences with incidents due to landing gear problems.
But by the end of the year, all six had been sold to un-indentified customers, with the last of these due to be delivered within only few weeks.
It is known that some of the aircraft have been sold to Malev and Austrian Airlines, and one aircraft, originally acquired by the Swedish airline Nord-Flyg, was converted to freighter and acquired in 2010 by West Atlantic and will be placed with its subsidiary in Luxembourg.
