Feb 22, 2011 (newstodate): Ryanair is to put Lithuania's Vilnius Airport on its route map as its second destination in the country.
Effective from May 2011, Ryanair will launch flights to Barcelona, Dublin, London Stansted, Milan and Rome Ciampino, offering daily flights to London, while Dublin, Milan and Rome are scheduled for three weekly rotations and Barcelona to be operated twice weekly.
Ryanair will thus offer 18 weekly flights on five routes at Vilnius Airport.
Already at its entry into Lithuania's second international airport, Kaunas Airport in 2005, the carrier vented its clear intentions to operate into not just one, but several Lithuanian airports targeting especially the capital airport at Vilnius.
Ryanair's flights from Kaunas Airport to Barcelona and Milan will be transferred to Vilnius Airport to make way for Ryanair's first Greek routes from Kaunas to Rhodes and Kos, which were announced recently.
Ryanair is currently operating 22 routes from Kaunas Airport.
