Feb 25, 2011 (newstodate): Russia's air transport industry is growing - but relying on western-built aircraft.
According to the latest figures, 83 percent of all Russian flights were provided on western-built aircraft, while only six percent were flown with Russian-built aircraft.
Another indicator is that of the 91 aircraft that were delivered to Russian airlines in 2010, only 13 were built in Russia.
The start of deliveries in 2011 of the new Sukhoi Superjet and the AN-148S may mark the start of a slight turn in the statistics, but first of all Russia has still no efficient alternative to western-built long-haul aircraft.
