Feb 09, 2011 (newstodate): Plans for developing Russia's Yemelyanovo International Airport, near Krasnoyarsk, into a major hub are being adjusted considerably in light of changed market conditions.
An element in the federal program for development of the Russian transport system 2009-2013 with passenger volumes estimated to grow to eight million by 2020, the approach forecasts a more modest figure around three million passengers.
The earlier plan, developed by the German consultant Dornier Consulting and driven by the now defunct carrier KrasAir, included the construction of a new passenger terminal and a cargo terminal as well as a range of other new infrastructure, with a new second runway to be financed by the Russian federal government.
The German consultant Hochtief has now been commissioned to work out a revised master plan, expected to be presented by March this year.
