Feb 01, 2011 (newstodate): Air Karabagh will be the name of a new carrier, set up by the authorities of Nagorno-Karabagh.
The carrier will operate three ex-Armavia Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft on the route to Yerevan, Armavia.
The region's Stepanakert Airport will complete its renovation projects in April 2011 and handle its first aircraft in May 2011.
The airport has been closed since 1992 after the military clash between Armenia and Azerbaijan resulting in Armenia's take-over of the region that is still claimed by Azerbaijan.
Consequently, Azerbaijan has gained IATA's support to veto any resumption of flights at the airport by the enclave or Armenia.
