Feb 11, 2011 (newstodate): The Lithuanian logistics company Hoptrans is working hard to get details in place for restarting their traffic at Kaunas Airport.
In September 2010, the company opened a new venue for ex-China exports to customers in the Baltic, Central and Eastern European countries by operating an IL-96-400T freighter offering 80 tonnes of capacity once weekly on the route from Shanghai to Kaunas Airport, with onward road feeder services to to destinations in the Baltic region, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Germany.
-We hope to be able to break news about the resumption of services from Q2 and are going for a one-year contract with one of the carriers we are currently negotiating with, says Martynas Smitas, Hoptrans Logistic General Manager.
-The concept will still be a weekly service, probably with a Boeing 747 freighter, says Mr Smitas.
The IL-96-400T freighter, operated by Polet Airlines, was suspended as planned before Christmas.
