Feb 11, 2011 (newstodate): The delivery of the world's first and so far only Bombardier Q400 freighter to its new operator, West Atlantic Luxembourg is running slightly behind schedule.
The aircraft is now expected in Luxembourg within the coming weeks.
According to earlier plans, the aircraft should have entered commercial service during the first weeks of February but is instead still undergoing maintenance works.
The aircraft, offering a cargo capacity of 90 cubic meters or some nine tonnes in a package freighter version, will be operated on a dry lease arrangement and remain on Swedish registration.
The Swedish cargo operator Nord-Flyg received the converted Q400-PF Package Freighter on January 16, 2009 - but while the aircraft performed without any flaws, the timing was obviously not good and the aircraft spent most of its time on the ground.
Nord-Flyg later folded its wings in April 2010, leaving the ex-SAS Q400 aircraft up for sale until it was finally acquired by West Atlantic in August 2010.
