Feb 10, 2011 (newstodate): The process of handing the management of Kosovo's Prishtina International Airport over to its new owner has now been started.
In August 2010, the Turkish-French consortium Limak-Aeroports de Lyon emerged as the winner of the tender for 20 years management of the airport, while the ownership remains in the hands of the Kosovo state.
Included in the plans is the construction of a new 27,000 sq m passenger terminal to be completed within 18 months, a new apron, and a new ATC tower as well as other pertinent infrastructural elements.
Pristina International Airport has a 2,500 m runway and existing facilities also include a 2,500 sq.m. cargo terminal, operating since December, 2002, with a daily handling capacity at 100 tonnes.
