Feb 22, 2011 (newstodate): Ryanair's decision to add Vilnius operations to its current base operations at Kaunas Airport is not shattering this airport manager's belief in Ryanair's commitment.
-First of all it is encouraging to see that Ryanair has this trust in the potentials of the Lithuanian market, and we wish them every success in Vilnius as well, says Arijandas Sliupas, Kaunas Airport manager.
-Ryanair's passenger volumes have increased to one million at Kaunas that has become a base station for Ryanair, and we are firmly committed to work together with this carrier to the benefit of both parties as well as to the market that remains the ultimate driver.
-After all, the growth by Ryanair operations in Kanuas Airport has made this airport unique, not only in Lithuania but also compared to other regions including Latvia, Belarus and many others.
-Kaunas Airport is constantly talking to potential airline customers to attract new traffic and destinations. Most ideally we would certainly like to see new airlines here not duplicating our existing offerings, but rather adding new travel opportunities to other regions. We would certainly like to welcome carriers operating from markets like Russia and other CIS states, which would open up for new potentials in the development of our airport, says Mr Sliupas.
