Feb 02, 2011 (newstodate): The EU Commission has now closed the case developing against Latvia over ground handling regulations.
In October 2010, the European Commission launched legal proceedings for failure to notify any transposition of the directive on market opening for ground handling services.
In the absence of satisfactory reply from Latvia within two months thereafter, the Commission would then refer the case to the Court of Justice, which opens the litigation procedure.
But - the Latvian government has responded to EU's letter of formal notice by taking immediate action to rectify the situation, and the case has now been closed.
